Why do I hate Android? It’s definitely one of the questions I get asked most often these days. And most of those that don’t ask probably assume it’s because I’m an iPhone guy. People see negative take after negative take about the operating system and label me as “unreasonable” or “biased” or worse.
I should probably explain.
Believe it or not, I actually don’t hate Android. That is to say, I don’t hate the concept of Android — in fact, at one point, I loved it. What I hate is what Android has become. And more specifically, what Google has done with Android.
This is a very poignant article, that explains in detail the reasons why Google has rolled over and become every phone carrier’s dream. Apple, for being as “closed” as they are, has always been the one in control of the carriers. They have a highly sought-after product. On the other hand, Android is saturating the market in low cost phones, and is ridden with bloatware from the carriers. Though I don’t necessarily see the need for the “colorful” language in this article, the points are straight and true. It’s a good read.
